Perform acceptance test procedures on hardware such as stepper/servo motor and controllers related to beamline construction and operation. Develop, deploy, and maintain programs integrating motion control of equipment with existing software for data acquisition and analysis framework. Work in a team environment to collect the hardware motion requirements from scientists. Understand the functional requirements associated with several different experimental techniques and leverage the existing framework. Interact with scientists to ensure the interfaces meet their requirements. Create and maintain documentation associated with the applications and play an active role in training sessions for colleagues and visiting scientists. Develop tools for data acquisition, data management and scientific data analysis.
- Bachelor's or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 6 months experience as an R&D Engineer or related occupation
- Must have at least 6 months of prior work experience in the following:
- Programming languages: Java, C/C++, Labview, Python
- Kernel-level knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems including sysadmin
- Electronic Circuit
- Computer systems architecture
- Large scale open source distributed control systems and testing techniques with formal fault analysis
