Capacitor Sciences is developing materials with a high degree of intermolecular order to address the first principles for the ideal energy storage device. Capacitor Sciences engineers formulations to impart the required structure in a thin film device made by wet coating. The goal is a low-cost, high energy density, energy storage device with energy density at least three times that of the best-in-class lithium ion batteries
This is a synthetic chemistry role reporting to the Director of Material Development. The job entails organic molecule and polymer synthesis and purification, formulation and characterization. Chemical synthesis in the 1 to 100g scale range. Purification of compounds and materials utilizing standard techniques and specialized equipment.
Synthesis, purification, and characterization of compounds
Continuously seeks to improve work flows at the bench and lab organization
Document and summarize experimental data for review and interpretation
Communicate results or observations to supervisor and other team members, making special note of unexpected results or observations.
BA/BS Chemistry (or related field), or equivalent experience.
Experience in organic synthesis
Experience executing experimental plans, documenting results, documenting variations from the plan, and communicating findings with experimental lead.
Self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision
3+ years synthetic chemistry experience
Experience in polymer synthesis, formulation, and/or processing
