Capacitor Sciences Inc. is developing materials with a high degree of intermolecular order to address the first principles for the ideal energy storage device. Capacitor Sciences engineers molecules and formulations to impart the required structure in a thin film device made by wet coating. The goal is a low-cost, high energy density, energy storage device with energy density at least three times that of the best-in-class lithium ion batteries.
This is an analytical characterization chemistry role reporting to the Director of Material Characterization and QC. The job entails hands on experience with wet chemistry techniques, sample preparation, operation of analytical instruments, data processing and preparing reports.
The position also demands occasional organic and polymer purification, solubility studies, formulation & coating development. This position is based in an analytical laboratory catering to R&D and QC needs of the company.
Material characterization & QC
o Handle, organize, and prepare samples for characterization.
o Operate analytical instruments such as HPLC, GPC, FTIR, TGA, MS, ICP, IC, Karl Fisher, elemental analyzer, XRD, etc.
o Execute deliberate process improvement experiments and manage written SOP documents to reflect process changes.
o Follow quality control procedures by diligent comparison of results to expectations / standards and document anomalies in properties of materials, formulations and coatings.
o Help ensure an SOP exists for each process and that baseline process parameters and control charts are published for each process.
o Prepare timely reports of the collected data and help insure the process flow runs smooth.
o Help organize data to ensure its timely availability to other technical teams.
o Dedicate part of time supporting lab flow with routine formulations and coatings by executing established SOPs.
