Reporting to Diagnostics group leader, the selected candidate will assume the technical lead and will work closely with accelerator division groups in the integration of the diagnostics and instrumentation systems into the accelerator complex.
Provide engineering and software support for all aspects of accelerator beam position monitors and other beam diagnostics instrumentation.
Use of test and measurement equipment, including network and spectrum analyzers.
Application of advanced principles to design develop specify, test and evaluate solutions and plans to solve highly technical problems associated with highly complex high speed digital front end, embedded systems, and field programmable gated array (FPGA) as well as digital signal processing (DSP).
Conceptualizing, planning and developing advanced and innovative digital signal processor software algorithms utilizing hardware descriptive languages and software development tools such as VHDL, Verlog, System Generator, Matlab, Simulink, Labview and Python.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
BS Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience
Knowledge of High speed digital signal processing (DSP), FPGA and software development as it relates to Accelerator Beam Diagnostics and Instrumentation.
Demonstrated software development in a Linux or similar platform
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a distributed control system application in EPICS environment, in support of Accelerator Beam Diagnostics and Instrumentation.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects as it applies to Accelerator Beam Diagnostics sub-systems
Ability to work with diverse technical team members and groups
Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Experience in data acquisition in high speed, high volume environments
Demonstrated knowledge of Python programming
Knowledge of C/C++ programming
