The Department of NanoEngineering (http://ne.ucsd.edu), which uses the unique and enabling aspects of a nanoscale material to create a device to be utilized by mankind in the Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD, invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Project Scientist position.
Candidates must have earned their Ph.D. degree in materials science, chemical engineering or a related area. Successful candidates should have experience in research, development and manufacturing for electrochemical energy storage and conversion technologies, especially in:
electrode materials (including Mn/Ni-rich layered, spinel structure) synthesis through solid-state, co-precipitation, and hydro-thermal methods;
materials degradation diagnosis through multiple advanced characterizations such as Cryo-TEM, STEM/EELS, transmission X-ray microscopy, Plasma FIB, etc.;
application of first-principles calculation to the discovery and design of functional materials for energy storage;
funding proposal writing, and research program review.
